A mineral-rich, digestion-supportive electrolyte drink made from real ingredients — no dyes, gums, or additives.

This natural electrolyte drink helps your body stay hydrated and supports healthy digestion by replenishing the key minerals your gut needs to function smoothly. Made with coconut water, lemon juice, cranberry juice, mineral salt, and pure maple syrup, it’s balanced, simple, and genuinely effective.

Whether you’re sweating through a summer workout, recovering from travel, or feeling depleted, this mineral drink helps replace fluids and electrolytes lost throughout the day.

Ingredients for a natural electrolyte drink: coconut water, lemon, cranberry juice, maple syrup, and mineral salt.

Why Electrolytes Matter for Digestion

When most people think about hydration, they think of water. But water alone isn’t enough — especially for digestion. Proper hydration depends on electrolytes, the charged minerals that help your body absorb and move fluid into your cells.

When you’re dehydrated or low on electrolytes, normal muscle and nerve function can be affected — including the contractions that move food through the digestive tract. Inadequate hydration can also contribute to constipation.

This drink restores balance with the same minerals your digestive system depends on:

  • Sodium (from mineral salt) – helps regulate fluid balance and supports normal nerve and muscle function.

  • Potassium (from coconut water) – regulates muscle contractions, including those that move food through your intestines.

  • Magnesium (trace amounts in mineral salt + maple syrup) – supports enzyme function and smooth muscle relaxation in the gut.

  • Calcium (from coconut water) – helps control nerve and muscle function involved in peristalsis.

Together, they hydrate and help your digestive system run more efficiently.

What’s Inside This Gut-Friendly Electrolyte Drink

  • Coconut water: Naturally rich in potassium and calcium for deep hydration.

  • Pure maple syrup: Adds a touch of sweetness while providing trace minerals like zinc and manganese.

  • Mineral salt: Delivers over 60 trace minerals, including sodium — the most important electrolyte lost in sweat.

  • Lemon juice: Adds acidity and brightens the flavor.

  • Cranberry juice: Naturally tart and rich in polyphenols, plant compounds with antioxidant activity.

Each ingredient plays a role in both hydration and digestion — no fillers, no synthetic vitamins, and no colorants.

When to Drink It

  • After workouts or sauna sessions

  • On hot, dehydrating days

  • During travel

  • When recovering from illness or digestive upset

Replenishing electrolytes helps your cells absorb water and your digestion work more efficiently, especially when you’ve lost minerals through sweat or stress.

Why Not Just Gatorade?

Unlike many flavored electrolyte drinks, this version skips artificial colors and sweeteners, with ingredients and sweetness you can adjust yourself.

Compared with standard sports drinks like Gatorade, coconut water provides substantially more potassium, while mineral salt adds sodium — giving this homemade version a broader mix of naturally occurring electrolytes.

If you prefer a travel-friendly option, LMNT packets are a convenient electrolyte option to keep on hand.

Storage

This recipe makes about four cups. Store in a sealed glass jar or bottle for up to a week in the fridge. Shake before drinking — natural separation is normal.
